When I need a plumber I want one who is qualified and affiliated and working to a recognised standard. If I need to see a Chiropractor for my aching back, I want one with the highest standards of medical education and recognised as such.
Hopefully you will not have leaking pipes or a bad back, you simply want to instruct a commercial energy assessor; but we all want high standards delivered by someone who is dedicated to providing a good service. In many areas of our life, we expect-and demand-high standards. We know their great value. They help bring out the best in us and for us.
What are these standards?
Standards define what we should know and be able to do. They describe the knowledge, skills, and understanding that we should have in order to provide high levels of competency; high standards lead to good service provision and results.Â
The ACEA standards are mandatory not voluntary, our members work to these standards, and not just because they have to, but because they want to; they have a passion for what they do.
How will high standards make the EPC any better?
First of all it will ensure that you get an accurate energy rating and a recommendations report that you will understand. Energy rating and reporting accuracy will give credibility, particularly if you are instructing our members on behalf of your own client’s.
Accuracy and clarity could also potentially provide guidance and advice on reducing energy consumption, this means cost savings! With energy costs high, and energy usage being a direct cost that you can do something about, then these savings could be significant.  Â
