CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme: An Outline

The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme is designed by government to require businesses to participate in lowering UK carbon emissions by engaging in energy saving projects to become more energy efficient. Formerly known as the Carbon Reduction Commitment scheme, it’s administered by the Environment Agency and forms an essential part of the UK’s commitment to reducing its overall carbon emissions in line with targets, so has green as well as money-saving credentials.

Energy Efficiency and the New Government

The new coalition government is making much of its commitment to maximising energy efficiencies and curbing climate change, and has even some sceptics agreeing that blue and yellow have combined to make green in UK politics. On the other hand, many regard new PM Cameron’s claim that this will be the UK’s “greenest government ever” as hyperbolic at best, and are more doubtful as to the new government’s green credentials. ACEA is a professional body representing Commercial Energy Assessors and Energy Consultants across the UK. We are a Not-For-Profit organisation with aims and objectives geared towards environmental and quality standard goals.

The Association provides its members with professional and commercial support as well as representing the interests of our clients. Where you see the ACEA name and brand on one of our members' marketing material, you can be assured that they adhere to a strict code of conduct and an exceptionally high standard of delivery.

The Association furthers the advancement of energy assessment and its practice in a number of ways: 

  • ACEA has drawn up its own Code of Conduct and good practice operational requirements
  • We publish a Directory - on this website - categorising member services and specialist skills
  • We organise conferences, seminars and exhibitions for members
  • It comments on consultative papers from Government and discusses issues of importance to its members with Government and national bodies
  • It lobbies Industry, Parliament and other professional bodies
  • We provide an advanced and simplified Recommendations Energy Report for the end user of our members services

Further, we aim to assist clients, local authority departments, researchers, the public and other enquirers wishing to access information about the existing and evolving energy assessment business.
